|This message may appear when trying to access the Office Timesheets login page because the ASP.NET v2.0 is not set to "Allow" in the "Web Service Extensions" folder in Windows 2003 Server. Office Timesheets has a minimum requirement of ASP.NET v2.0 to be installed in Windows 2003. ASP.NET v2.0 has to be set to "Allow" for the user's of Office Timesheets to be able to access the login page and have Office Timesheets function correctly. If the machine housing the Office Timesheets installation does not have ASP.NET v2.0, or if prompted to install ASP.NET v2.0 during the Office Timesheets Setup, the security settings must be adjusted from within the Computer Management console's "Web Service Extensions". The setting must be configured from the "Prohibit" setting to "Allow" setting for ASP.NET v2.0. Microsoft's line of operating systems after Windows 2000 provides more robust security features which is the reason the above setting will need to be manual configured. |
To configure ASP.NET v2.0 so that it is configured to "Allow" follow the instructions below:
1) Right click on the "My Computer" icon and select "Manage"
2) Expand "Services and Applications", "Internet Information Services", "Web Service Extensions", by clicking on the '+' sign
3) Double click on "Web Service Extensions"
4) Highlight "ASP.NET v2.0" and click on the "Allow" button to the left of the page. This option is now set from "Prohibit" to "Allow"
*****The previous steps will not be necessary if Office Timesheets is installed on Windows 2000 Server*****
